After an extremely short coaching search, the Cleveland Browns
have hired fired-Jets coach Eric Mangini, according to the
team's website.

Randy Lerner wasted no time, that's for sure. Mangini was the first candidate he interviewed and I can't help but wonder what Mangini could have possibly said in his interview to win Lerner over so emphatically.
As I've
stated previously, I was not on board with the idea of Mangini as the next head coach of the Browns. He seems like he'll be
just another Romeo Crennel. But, we'll see. I am, of course, still a Browns fan and if Mangini is our new head coach, then I'll have to be supportive of him.
It does baffle me, I'm not going to lie. I mean, are qualified head coaching candidates in such short supply that Lerner is content to hire the first person he interviews? Also, I'm bewildered that he'd hire a head coach
before he hires a GM.
All I can right now, while we wait for Lerner to hire a GM, is hope that Mangini turns out to be one of those NFL coaches that finds great success in his
second head coaching job in the NFL after a failed first stint.
I think I can speak for most Browns fans when I say, "Welcome aboard, Coach Mangini ... don't screw it up!"
