DA Not the Biggest Problem

That's right, I said it. Derek Anderson is NOT the biggest problem facing the Browns. The BIGGEST problem is Romeo Crennel.

I've been a big defender of Romeo's in the past ... up until this season. His incompetence has shown again and again. He's stubborn and clearly doesn't belong in a head-coaching role in the NFL.

His explanation for yesterday's disappointing loss to Baltimore — the the comment you're probably hearing a lot today:
"We couldn't muster up enough energy to win the game."
Yep, that's our Romeo. Surprisingly, he was able to muster up enough energy to admit that. How can you blame the team for not being able to muster up enough energy to beat a division rival at home — leading by 14 points in the third quarter — if they look to the sidelines and see an emotionless coach who clearly doesn't know what he's doing.

Another comment Romeo made is yesterday's post-game press conference, and one which is getting considerable less play than the one above is when he said he "doesn't know how to get the most out of his players."

Umm, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that what a head coach is suppose to be able to do?

By admitting that a) his team couldn't muster enough energy to win and that b) he doesn't know how to get the most out of his players, I can only assume yesterday's post-game press conference was Romeo's "letter of resignation." Or, at the very least, it's two good reasons he should be fired NOW.

Let's face it. This season is pretty much over. Romeo is NOT a good coach and he admits it. Something has to be done. How many second chances are we going to give this guy?

  1. My grades for the Browns after the debacle against the Ravens.
    Midseason grades in ()

    Offense C- (C)
The Play calling is not consistent. Put Rogers in on goal line package. Need to see more of Cribbs at QB.
    QB D (D)
Anderson will never take the Browns to the Super Bowl. He looked horrible against the Ravens. It is time to make the change to Brady.
    RB C+ (B-)
Lewis needs to get the ball at least 20 times a game. He needs to make some cut backs from time to time. Give more carries to Harrison.
    OL C- (C+)
Missing Tucker really hurts. Play needs to be more consistent.
    WR C- (C-)
Braylon Edwards needs Lasik. Winslow needs to move from TE to Slot. Steptoe is not a starter.
    TE C (B-)
Steve Heiden needs to be the starter at TE. Winslow needs to be the permanent slot receiver.

    Defense
Blitzing on third down only works if you have the correct coverage. When you run a 3-4 you need to have good Linebackers.
    DL B+ (A-)
Shaun Roger is best at his position in NFL. Will be All-Pro
    LB F(F)
Weakest area on team! Jackson gets pushed and knocked around; Davis and McGinest are too slow! Wimbley is not playing to potential. If he had better LBs around him he would perform better. Jackson and Davis got beat badly on Ravens long 60 yd run in 4th quarter. I doubt they could start for any other team. First area of need in offseason.
    DB D (C)
Plays well at times. D-Coordinator puts them in wrong coverage many times. Improvement at LBs would help them perform better as a group.

    Special Teams
    A (A-)
Strongest part of team. Don’t mess with it

    Coaching
    HC Romeo F (D-)
Not an NFL coach. Does not manage game well at all. No emotion! Needs to lose weight! Savage needs to get new coach after last game!
    D Coordinator Tucker D (C)
New coach will need his own D-Coordinator Tucker will be a good Defensive coach somewhere for a long time in league. If he had LBs he would look better.
    O Coordinator Chud C- (C)
Can’t make WRs catch balls. Can’t make QB play better. Need to see how he adjusts with Brady at QB to see if he is a good coach.

  3. ...I think that yesterday's game hinged when Braylon dropped that long bomb from D.A.

THAT is when "playmakers" make plays...yet, our "playmaker" took ALL of the air out of C.B.S. when he put that thing on the turf. Seriously, I watched as D.A. - prone to focus-in on his target - not even LOOK Braylon's way.

His dropsies have now become a mental block for the WHOLE TEAM, not just him...how sad.

What the hell, you can fire Romeo too...that might not hurt.
