Preseason Blues

I don't know about you, but this preseason seems to really be dragging to me. Normally, I'm as excited and optimistic as every other delusional Cleveland fan this time of year — hungry for any football I can get, even preseason.

I don't know what it is, though, but I just can't get into these preseason games like I used to. I'm anxious for some real football (I'll even settle for the kind of football the Browns normally play, as long as the games count for something).

I'll admit, I'm not as enthusiastic this season as I normally am — a little bit of the Browns fan in me died this offseason when the team decided, again, to start over. Not to worry, the Browns fan in me was big enough that much of it survived — seems the optimism is what is gone.

I'll try my best to look on the bright side, as I've always done in the Blawg Pound, but don't expect the same old Positive Pete as in years past.

No, I'm definitely more cynical and critical of this team than I've ever been — and don't give me any of that crap about not being a true fan. I'm this way because I'm a true fan. If I didn't truly care about this team, I wouldn't be critical at all.

Go Browns!
