Back to our Browns offseason recap …
Turns out, rookie quarterback Colt McCoy was not 100 percent this year and that he was still recovering from the shoulder injury he suffered in last year’s BCS Championship game.
I think I speak for all Browns fans when I say, “WTF!”
On the one hand, I think about how dangerous it was for his future and the future of this franchise to have him out there playing injured week after week.
Of course, on the other hand, I can’t help but think how an injured Colt McCoy was still better than a healthy Jake Delhomme and can only imagine how good McCoy will be when he is healthy.
I tell you, as much of a Brady Quinn fan as I am/was, I really like McCoy. If we can get some decent receivers, then the Browns should have a pretty explosive offense in place this season.
We’ve got a solid offensive line. We’ve got a fantastic running back. And we’ve got a terrific field general with McCoy. It’s time to address the wide receivers.
What do you think? Is this just a ploy to make us think McCoy was just that good while not 100 percent, or was he really playing with a sore shoulder all season?
Go Browns!

I think we can all agree that if McCoy was actually injured the news would have broke well before now. Maybe after one of their many losses that weren't in the first three games he played well in.

McCoy's "shoulder injury" is a bone being thrown to give Browns fans hope in lieu of explaining to them why in the holy Hell this ramshackle coaching team has been assembled.
You may have a point, RJ. It's not that easy to hide an injury in the NFL ... especially a shoulder injury on a QB — especially, especially a QB who injured his shoulder in the BCS title game just months prior to being drafted.
ReplyDeleteWas McCoy really not 100 percent? Perhaps, but I'm pretty sure he was at least in the 90th percentile.
