The truth is, though, I simply cannot pinpoint anyone from Sunday’s ugly win against the Dolphins who fits that description.
That said, I came up with two players to share this title.
First, Phil Dawson. It’s no secret I am a big fan of Dawson. He’s been a consistent MVP for this team since 1999.
On Sunday, he didn’t have an outstanding day, but he was a perfect 2-for-2 on extra points and nailed an easy 30-yard field goal.
Those five points, however, did push Dawson to achieve a significant milestone and that’s why he’s the Blawg Pound Beast of the Week. Phil Dawson is now the second all-time leading scorer in Cleveland Browns history, passing Don Cockroft on Sunday to trail only the legendary Lou “the Toe” Groza.
Congrats, Phil!
My second Beast of the Week is someone you might not expect me to give props to – Josh Cribbs.
I know I've criticized Cribbs a lot in the past. I still wish he would shut his mouth and just play football, but I'll admit he's earning his money this year.
Each week, Cribbs looks more and more like an actual NFL wide receiver. On Sunday, he didn’t have great numbers – 3 receptions for 49 yards – but he did pull in an unbelievable 33-yard touchdown catch from McCoy in the second quarter.
It was a ball that should not have been caught … but Cribbs snagged it for a TD. That’s why he’s also the Blawg Pound Beast of the Week.
Congrats, Josh!
Go Browns!
