Best O-Line in NFL?

A lot was made Saturday during the pre-game show of the Cleveland Browns offensive line. It only took 13 years, but apparently our O-Line is among the best in the league. Way to go Browns!

As a former lineman myself, this is something I’ve always paid attention to. No one can doubt that Joe Thomas is as good as it gets at left tackle. And Alex Mack at center, I mean, the guy scored a freakin’ touchdown in the Pro-Bowl!

Between those two, you’ve got Eric Steinbach. He’s been solid as well.

Now, on the right side of the line, there’s second-year guard Shawn Lauvao and Tony Pashos is back from injury.

Are these five guys something the Browns should hang their hat on this season? Colt McCoy thinks so.

"They are the strong point on our offense," McCoy said. "They are the foundation of what we need to do. Those guys are playing well."

That’s good praise from a second-year QB who has taken on a leadership role like no other Browns quarterback since Vinny Testaverde. It’s also exactly what you want to hear from your quarterback.

Of course, just to pick on McCoy a little bit, I will share this nugget of wisdom he is also quoted as saying: "For this offense to work, we've got to throw and catch the football. That's the bottom line."

Gee, really? I suppose you’re going to tell me that the team who scores the most points by the end of the game will probably win.*

Just kidding, Colt. You hang in there and make sure those five mules up front know how much you appreciate them. If they can stay healthy, McCoy will safe and productive this season.

Go Browns!

play O-line ... look
at my awesome
stance!"

*My apologies to John Madden.
