Die Hard Browns Fan: Matt

I initially wondered if I'd be able to do this Interview with a Die Hard Browns Fan feature on a weekly basis and, so far, I haven't had a problem finding Browns fans to interview.

This week, I talked to another former co-worker of mine who doesn't really consider himself a true "die hard," but, since he currently lives in the heart of Steelers-Eagles territory and still roots for the Browns, I believe he is.

Matt hails from Oberlin (not Firelands) and currently lives and works in York, Pa. as a sports writer for the local paper. As a journalism major at Kent State, Matt covered Josh Cribbs when he was just a MAC quarterback for the school paper.

So, without further ado, I give you the Blawg Pound Interview with a Die Hard Browns Fan.

How long have you been a Browns fan?
All my life, but since the late 80s to be exact.
Who is your all-time favorite Browns player?
Eric Metcalf might get a slight not over Michael Dean Perry.
Did you ever get to see him play in person?
Unfortunately, no.
What is your favorite Browns memory?
Metcalf's two punt returns for touchdowns against the Steelers in 1993.
Do you support Mike Holmgren and the direction in which he is taking this team?
I'm indifferent about it.
Are you satisfied with the hiring of Pat Shurmur as the head coach?
Not really, but I've grown to accept it until he proves me right or wrong.
What offseason move has you excited for next season?
What offseason move?
What offseason move has you worried about next season?
I don't think they're going to be able to address their needs with the front seven while changing back to a 4-3.
What areas do you think are of the biggest concern to the Browns for next season?
Their front seven, regardless of what they do with their first-round pick.
Who would you like to see the Browns take with the No. 6 pick in the NFL Draft?
A.J. Green or Julio Jones. Despite my fear for the defensive front, their receivers aren't just vanilla. They're stale vanilla.
Who is your favorite current Browns player?
Cribbs, of course.
What makes you a die-hard Browns fan?
I don't think of myself as a die-hard fan as much as just passionate one. But I think it's the sense of the Browns being what you grew up with and probably the franchise that best reflects Cleveland (before the move to Baltimore).

It's still a football town, and I think the Cavaliers only had that "it" factor the Browns always do because they had a home town guy in LeBron. Without something like that, the Tribe and Cavaliers can't stack up to the Browns in being a "Cleveland team."
How much money would it take to get you to wear a Steelers jersey in public?
Not much if I can rip it off like a Hulk Hogan muscle shirt!
There you have it. Real answers from a real Browns fan. Thanks sharing your thoughts, Matt, and thanks for being a Browns fans.

Are you a die-hard Browns fan? If you're reading this and your name isn't RJ, then I'm guessing you are. Visit our Facebook page or send us an e-mail and let us know if you'd like to be considered for a future Interview with a Die Hard Browns Fan.
