The Cleveland Browns are proud supporters of Walk MS Cleveland, which is taking place at Cleveland Browns Stadium tomorrow morning.
This event is also very close to The Blawg Pound's heart — for the third consecutive year, my brother Lou and his wife Brooke have formed a team to walk and raise money for MS. Brooke's mother has suffered from this disease for many years and, just recently, she was also diagnosed.
Having multiple sclerosis means that you may not be able to walk when you wake up. Or that you may suddenly have impaired vision. Or that your memory will fail you for no apparent reason. The symptoms of MS are different, and devastating, for everyone — the only certainty is that it will affect yet another person every hour of every day.
"This is the third year I've registered for Walk MS because I want to do something for the people who have been diagnosed — and because I want to do everything to prevent more people from learning what it means to live with this disease," Lou says. "Today, there is no cure for multiple sclerosis, and with a diagnosis occurring most frequently between the ages of 20 and 50, many individuals face a lifetime filled with unpredictability."
Online registration for the approximately two mile long walk, which will begin and end at the stadium, is now closed but participants may register in-person tomorrow at BrownsTown inside the stadium. Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m. and the walk begins at 9:00 a.m. Registration is free, but donations are accepted.
You can also support this cause through monetary donations. The link to my brother's team page is here. Last year the money raised helped support research, provide programs and services to 11,000 area Ohioans and grant scholarships to qualified students who have been diagnosed with MS or who have a parent with MS.
Please consider going out to Cleveland Browns Stadium tomorrow to support Walk MS, or donate this this worthy cause.
Go Browns!
