Haden is not from around here, and he didn't choose to come to this area on his own.
In addition to a phenomenal rookie season that has earned him respect from many Browns fans, Haden has recently demonstrated his support for Cleveland.
This past Monday, Haden (and friends) attended the Cavaliers game wearing full "home whites" to support the struggling Cleveland franchise. Sitting court side, he caught the attention of many (including Cavs' owner Dan Gilbert, who tweeted his thanks to the cornerback).
On Wednesday, he was at it again. Haden attended the Cavaliers-Nets game wearing a full Cavaliers uniform (this time, the road wine color) and topped it off by sporting an Anderson Varejao wig!Haden has also been spotted at Lake Erie Monsters games, signing autographs and dining at local establishments (WFNY has two great posts on Haden's Cleveland loyalty here and here).
He seems to truly understand and appreciate the passion with which Cleveland fans root for our teams — and he knows he's a part of that now.
I applaud you, Joe Haden, and I hope you never forget what's important to us. We'd love to have a winner, but we also love it when our athletes respect us. Thank you!
Go Browns!

I really like joe haden. I was really happy when we drafted him and I'm glad he is embracing cleveland the way he is. I've seen at cavs games and I even heard on wmms today on the alan cox show. Love having this guy on our team and hope he stays around for a long time
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment, Dave.
ReplyDeleteI hope Haden stays around for a long time too, and continues to embrace Cleveland fans.
